We are a widely used Database Management System. Here are some representative applications:

- Sales: To store customer information, production information, and invoice details.
- Accounting: For payments, receipts, account balances, assets, and other accounting information.
- Human resources: For information about employees, salaries, payroll taxes, benefits, and for the generation of paychecks.
- Industry: Where it is a manufacturing unit, warehouse, or distribution center, each one needs a database to keep the records of ins and outs. For example, distribution centers should keep a track of the product units that supplied into the center as well as the products that got delivered out from the distribution center each day; this is where DBMS comes into the picture.
- Online Shopping: For store product information, your addresses and preferences, credit details, maintenance of online product, generation of recommendation lists, and online order tracking. For example Amazon, Flipkart, etc.
- Banking and Finance
- Banking: For customer information, accounts, loans, and banking transactions.
- Credit card transactions: For a purchase on credit cards and generation of monthly statements.
- Finance: For storing information about holdings, sales, and purchases of financial instruments such as stocks and bonds; also for storing real-time market data to enable online trading by customers and automated trading by the firm.
- Airlines: To travel through airlines, we make early reservations, this reservation information along with the flight schedule is stored in a database.
- Education sector: Database systems are frequently used in schools and colleges to store and retrieve the data regarding student details, staff details, course details, exam details, payroll data, attendance details, fees details, etc. There is a hell lot amount of inter-related data that needs to be stored and retrieved in an efficient manner.
